Modus Operandi Purgo Playa:
Prior to departing, we remove all excess packaging from everything,
and sort all camp food, supplies, etc. into bins that we bring back
with us.
Throughout the event, we police our plot as well as our neighbors'
plots to ensure loose items are not blowing away or have the potential
to do so. To handle grey water, we set up an evap pool - plumbing
runs from a camp sink and from our solar shower structure into the
pool. We've engineered a battery-powered pump system to circulate the grey water over greenhouse cloth to speed up the evaporation process.
After the event, remaining campmates line up at one edge of our
plot and slowly walk to the other edge picking up MOOP as we go,
spinning as we move in order to aid in spotting items possibly missed,
or that may catch the sun's reflection from different angles. Once
we reach the opposite edge, we repeat the process perpendicular
from where we started. We also inspect neighbors' plots and the
road in front of us for MOOP. We repeat the above process 2-3 times
until we are confident we have left no trace.
